Educational Sector of Oman Is Diversifying


Oman is an Arabic country which is second largest in Gulf. The economy of Oman has experienced a rapid growth because it has diverted its focus from the oil and gas industry to other diversified industries. One such example is teaching jobs in Oman, which are now on a rise because of the commendable efforts of government to promote education in the country.

The growing educational domain in Oman has opened up new avenues for the posts of teachers and lecturers by offering various teaching Oman Jobs. In Oman, education is free up to the secondary level and the government is taking various steps to deal with the adult illiteracy. This is the reason why the government is investing 5% of GDP to educate the adult population of the country, and thus has resulted in the increase of the literacy rate among adults, which was 82% in 2006, and it was reported to be 97% in 2011.

A number of universities and special colleges are being set up to meet the demand of manpower within the country. These educational institutions have helped a lot in imparting high level of education in the sectors like engineering, IT, healthcare, hotel management, banking, accounts, finance, etc. Such sectors keep on announcing vacancies for teachers to fill up those positions. 

Most of the colleges are affiliated with the Australian, European or American educational institutions, and thus the medium of educating students is mainly English. For teaching jobs in Oman, the colleges and schools seek candidates with impeccable English, along with the local language. Earlier the colleges in Oman offered graduate degrees, but now the education has diversified and progress is being made on post graduate and doctorate levels. These colleges in Oman hire professional teachers who have a prior experience in teaching, and those who can also supervise the research groups.
